Ange Percy is a textile artist who joined The Wool Clip at the beginning of 2018.
Originally from Hertfordshire, where her love of sewing began, she now lives in Penrith with her three children. When Ange was nine, her Mum made her sister’s wedding dress and Ange started getting offcuts of fabrics to play with...
For a few years, she has been tackling any sewing jobs, large or small. These have ranged from recreating a favourite garment in a new fabric to designing a child’s dress to meet a specific brief. She now makes purses, using the ingenious pattern designs of Emmaline Bags, and pincushion bracelets of her own design, and she continues to take commissions for bespoke work.
The main focus of Ange’s work for The Wool Clip is tweed purses. She loves to use Harris Tweed, which she sources direct from a contact on the Isle of Lewis.
“I get a lot of joy and take a lot of pride in finding the perfect fabric combinations to make the tweeds sing, and bring out the different qualities of the fabrics.”
