Chris became a founder member of the Wool Clip after studying as a mature student specialising in constructed and tufted textiles and ceramics. She began rug making and dyeing, transforming the natural grey of Herdwick yarn into an array of beautiful muted colours, and learned to crochet bags.
Her rugs are closely tufted, robust and hard-wearing, and made to be walked on, but the pictures definitely are not. Landscapes are created in many different textured yarns and from felt made from the fleece of her flock of Shetland sheep.
Chris has exhibited at several Galleries in Cumbria including Blackwell House, Brantwood, and Percy House Gallery, both as a solo artist and as a member of the Blue Tarn artist group. She is also a member of the Silver Yard Gallery co-operative in Orton.
Chris is happy to undertake commissions for both rugs and pictures.
