I have always made things from as long as I can remember and always enjoyed the sensory process of working and combining textures and colours. As I got older my interests turned more to fabrics and fibres and then more recently into wool. The variety of colour and texture and the ways in which one fleece can be manipulated never ceases to fascinate me and I love the process of starting with a raw, unwashed, smelly bag of wool and seeing it transformed through washing, dying, spinning, felting into an object of use or beauty.

When not elbow deep in fluff I still enjoy working with mixed media and creating pictures using anything I can find and reuse such as teabags and old bus tickets.

Although I don’t knit or crochet I love to spin beautiful art yarns and make art batts full of texture and colour. I enjoy using resists and seeing how different wools felt and produce different vessels when wet felted, it’s like a fresh suprise every time you make something because you can never predict exactly how the finished piece will look and that all adds to the magic. What may start out as a cushion cover may well turn into a wall hanging because it takes an unexpected turn and that is the joy of working with natural materials each piece is bespoke.
