MEMBER PROFILE
Sarah Louise Graham
Textile artist, Sarah Louise lives on a working farm in Bothel, Cumbria with her husband William and son Jake. She makes beautiful appliqué designs in her shepherd’s hut in the garden, where inspiration is all around her in the form of the farmyard animals that populate her distinctive creations.
Little did she realise that her passion for watching the native brown hares that live on the land above the farm would lead to the creation of her first cushion — a moongazing hare, which remains her favourite and most-asked-for design. The collection now offers over twenty designs: from dogs, cattle, sheep and horses to native wildlife including foxes, pheasants, badgers, stags and owls.
Sarah Louise loves working with different types of tweeds and woollen fabrics as well as incorporating gorgeous yarns into some of her creature creations. Using vintage and new woollen materials means that each of Sarah’s creations is a ‘one-of-a-kind’.
Trading as Handmade Designs by Sarah Louise, her love of tweed is evident in all of her textile designs, over a wide product offering of cushions, jewellery, animal heads and decorative home décor items, including lampshades, wreaths and footstools.
Sarah made three videos for Woolfest Online 2020 and you can link to them here: -
- wrapped wool sheep kits
- tweed Highland cow heads
- tweed selvedge and wreaths
