Introducing Beano and Gem

Two Wool Clip members, Chloe and Marion, both have dogs and those dogs frequently accompany them on their shop days in Caldbeck. We thought it was worth introducing Beano and Gem in a bit more detail, especially as every other member of The Wool Clip has their own page and Profile.

First, Gem, who is a tri-colour Border collie, born in September 2017 and part of Chloe's family since March 2019.

"Gem was bred and trained to be a working sheep dog and has a touch of Australian Kelpie - hence the ears!" says Chloe. "She has consistently refused to work sheep and was very easily scared and timid when she finally came to us to be a "collie who lunches". Gem is full of empathy and will rush to comfort anyone who seems to be upset and she loves the fuss that she gets at The Wool Clip. The biggest problem is that she barks when customers leave because she doesn't want them to go."

"It is instantly clear when our customers are dog people and Gem will happily assist in the disposal of dog biscuits. If there's any nervousness from anyone or a visiting dog, Gem is quite happy to go under the counter while people shop."   Chloe

Beano the Border terrier has been visiting The Wool Clip with Marion for several years.

"I've had Beano from a puppy back in 2015," says Marion, "and he's been coming to the shop since he was tiny. He likes to sunbathe on the step and say Hello to everyone that comes to the shop. All in all, he's a very relaxed and chilled out little dog - unless you happen to be a cat or a squirrel."

A warm welcome to The Wool Clip from Beano

Both Gem and Beano seem to enjoy their days at The Wool Clip, meeting visitors and getting lots of fuss.

Being in the shop is hard work

It's exhausting being in the shop - as shown in Marion's photo of Beano after a busy day!
